Cropnosis, formed in August 2003 as a MBO from Wood Mackenzie’s Agrochemicals division, provides research, analysis, competitor intelligence and consulting to clients in the agrochemicals, seeds and agricultural biotechnology industry and investment banking sectors with ad hoc monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Cropnosis also offers strategic reports in market assessment, market entry opportunities as well as short and long term forecasting for products / active ingredients and chemical product groups. We offer support to current and potential stakeholders in technical and commercial due diligence in acquisition and divestment and analysis / data for IPO prospectuses.
Clients and projects have ranged from Europe, U.S.A, Japan, China, India, Africa, Brazil, Canada and Australia; in fields ranging from agrochemicals, speciality chemicals, seeds, government agencies and investment banking sectors. This also includes, to a great extent, introducing analysts to the dynamics, vagaries and fluctuations, of an industry that they may be unfamiliar with.
Clients have ranged from long term investors, short term and hedge fund investors who have been provided with core industry information to familiarise and understand the industry dynamics. of crop protection chemicals, seeds and trait biotechnology.
Gautam has worked as a consultant for 19 years. Prior to this he has worked in various capacities in the industry. in marketing, business development, planning and operations in crop protection and non-crop areas, biotechnology and seed production; practical hands-on experience in agriculture, orchard / vineyard management and hybrid seed-production in cotton, maize and sorghum seeds. His expertise evolved working at senior managerial levels in the industry, including American Cyanamid’s International Division for 10 years, before joining Deutsche Bank / Wood Mackenzie.
Over the last 17 years his primary interaction is with the business / market intelligence sections of crop protection and seed companies and also with the investment community ranging from equity analysts, fund managers.
He has First Class post-graduate degrees in Agricultural Sciences, Entomology and Environmental Biology from India and Canada, with additional training in financial analysis in Edinburgh.
Lopa Sirur is a director and key member of the Cropnosis team since its inception.
She works in the collection, collation and cataloguing of our data and also in marketing Lopa had over 10 years experience in advertising documentary film-making, banking and insurance prior to her joining Cropnosis.
She has a BA in Economics from Bombay and a BA in Communications from Leeds.
